Probate

When a person dies their estate usually needs to be probated. Probate is the legal process overseen by a probate court to determine whether a Will is valid. In Texas, this process can be completed in a short period of time if the Will contains certain provisions.

If a person dies intestate, without a Will, the court appoints a representative to distribute the decedent's property in accordance with the laws of descent and distribution.

In general, the probate process involves collecting the decedent's assets, liquidating liabilities, paying necessary taxes, and distributing property to heirs.
